Five Signs It's Time to Change Brokerages
Honest questions to ask yourself before making the switch — and what the right brokerage should actually give you.
Most agents outgrow their first brokerage. The question isn't whether to switch — it's whether the new place will actually solve what's holding you back.
1. You're paying for services you don't use
High splits or monthly desk fees only make sense if the brokerage delivers real leads, training, or infrastructure. If you're paying and not receiving, the math doesn't work.
2. Your growth has stalled
Two years in, most agents plateau. The right mentor and systems can double production in a year — but only if the brokerage invests in agents.
3. You're building a team
Team leaders need brokerage support: legal, compliance, marketing, tech. Old-school brokerages weren't designed for team structures.
4. Your database is stagnant
If you're not being taught how to nurture past clients into repeat and referral business, you're leaving 70% of your career income on the table.
5. You feel invisible
You should know your broker. They should know your business. If you can't remember the last time you had a real conversation, that's a sign.
